It took some time – but now the synchronization in the Snap Room is truly perfect. The falling price will now in deed be in sync with all connected devices, even with the EDGE connection.
Just take a look at the video in which I will demonstrate how precise the sync is working. (Unfortunately, the video is only available in German).
Furthermore, we will soon start our last Beta-Test. All our testers will be provided with the “Release candidate” of the SevenSnap app and simultaniously be active in the Snap Room. That way we are able to subject SevenSnap to a last endurance testing before forwarding it to the App store.
We got a lot of feedback within the last few month concerning SevenSnap. We asked you what an exciting, fair and transparent shopping experience should look like. For this reason I compiled a list of reasons for why SevenSnap is an attractive alternative to regular online shopping.
Starting price
Seven Snap does not earn any money from buying products for you. That means in particular that we are able to set a relatively low starting price. In fact, we are always apt to offer the lowest starting price for a product that could be found on the internet. The result is that you will always find an attractive price each time you enter the Snap Room, and you can knock down at every time by klicking “Buy Now”.
Buy at every time
Unlike other Entertainment-Shopping providers, Seven Snap offers you the possibility to buy an item whenever you want to to. Everyone who seeks a product for a good price will be successful on SevenSnap. This was our main goal during the planning of the SevenSnap project.
It´s up to you!
As mentioned, the starting price of a product in the Snap Room will be as low as possible. If you want to save some money at the beginning of an offer, it´s up to you to how long you want to observe the falling price. The longer you wait, the lower the price will fall and with it the possibility that another user will knock down. It therefore depends on your strategy to get a bargain above average.
Example 1: Play it safe
The MacBook Air 2,13GHz costs about $1,799.00 in the Apple online store. The starting price in the SevenSnap Snap Room will be about $1,699.00. That means in detail that if you decide to enter the Snap Room and immediately knock down, you will already have made a good deal, saving $100 by just investing a small fee of $0.89 for each minute in the Snap Room.
Example 2: Make use of the falling price
Let´s assume that you only have a maximum budget of $1,200.00 for the MacBook Air. This means that you will have to make use of the falling price in the Snap Room to be able to purchase the product. Now it´s up to your strategy to be successful. For example, you could pay a short visit to the Snap Room every five minutes to check up on the current price, the number of users and the decline in price for each minute. If you feel that price has fallen low enough and sense that each second another user could snatch the product away from you, it is time for you to buy!
Conclusion
Each product in the Snap Room will come with an attractive starting price. We aim to offer the lowest price that can be found on the internet. That is why you will always be making a good deal at SevenSnap, and if you are willing to speculate further on a falling price, you can set some serious bargain records!
The development of SevenSnap has proven to be far more complex than we had imagined in the beginning. Especially the synchronization of the falling prices, the remaining time and all other specs which are generated dynamically were much of a problem for us. However, we are pleased to see that we were able to solve the major technical problems and can now focus on the details.
You want to know what exactly we are occupied with at the moment? Here is a list of our current tickets which our developers are working on at present.
We hope that we can still provide our beta-testers with the 0.9.5 version this week.
In the time between February 16th and 18th we stayed in Barcelona to partake in the TechCrunch Mobile 2010 Event. Owing to the fortunate circumstances that the Mobile World Congress took place at the same time in Barcelona, the city was filled with over 30.000 people from all around the globe with their main focus on “Mobile Internet”.
At the night of our arrival we met up with Jason Harris. Jason is from the states, a talented Cocoa developer and has been living in Barcelona for three years. Together with Jason we went to the Betty Ford bar in the evening and came to converse about the SevenSnap application. Jason, who himself had contributed to a number of cool apps, was sold on SevenSnap.
The next day the TechCrunch Mobile 2010 Event took place. Mike Butcher from TechCrunch Europe inaugurated and led through the convention. The event was very interesting since the whole internet market was approached from different perspectives. The mixture of startups, ideas and investors made the event quite dynamic and attractive.
During the networking-breaks, we made use of the opportunity to show our app to a few people. It was especially important for us to get some feedback. That is why we were all the more happy that invariably all person that we showed it to thought that it was a pretty cool idea. In the context of these conversations, we came into closer contact with two big and well-known VC-enterprises and were able to win Mike over. After the TechCrunch Event, we went to the Admob party together with Gabriel from TheStartupDigest. The party took place in a Swedish pub right in the middle of Barcelona. There were approximately 200 people in the cramped space, talking for hours about the exciting mobile internet. It was also here that we were apt to strike up a conversation and were able to conduct a few interesting dialogues.
After a few beers and a pit-stop at Burger-King we were on our way back to hotel.
At the last day of our stay in Barcelona, we had a few intense discussions about the future of SevenSnap. On the one hand we thought about by which further functions our app could be extended, and on the other hand which electronic platforms we wanted to make accessible in the future.
All in all, our trip to Barcelona was very interesting. We met a lot of interesting people and had a number of good conversations. But now we want to work out the last details of the SevenSnap app and to be represented in the App Store as soon as possible.
Yes, we are going to Barcelona and participate at TechCrunch Mobile 2010 from the February 16th to 18th. This event is very exciting to us, because Barcelona is going to be *the mobile internet city* at these days. There are dozens of mobile internet startups, capitalists and agencies in the city.
We hope to have great talks and contacts there. And of course we will show around the SevenSnap iPhone App.
If you want to meet us, just give us a ping at Twitter or eMail.
It’s really great to see, how SevenSnap Beta Users pushes us to the right way. Over 150 people are currently member at our community and many of them are helping us to make SevenSnap better and better. We started tons of discussions to learn more about the user needs. A special and very important point was to make SevenSnap as such transparent, that users are fine with our model and see SevenSnap as a fair way to buy products.
Just a few days ago we seeded the SevenSnap Beta 0.9.2. This version of SevenSnap solved many app-crashes, optimized the usability and filled the Snap-Room with live-data from our database. It’s a very exciting feeling to enter the Snap-Room and see the price is going down. Second by second.
Currently we’re working on the last details. We’re hoping to start at the end of February 2010 at the App Store (after nearly 12 month of development).
A great usability: only one page, no page-reloads, just Ajax.
Touchable. We believe, that Multi-Touch-Technology will also capture client-computers in the next few years. Windows 7, which comes with Multi-Touch-Support, was the first step on that way. Apple will hopefully bring a device in 2010. The SevenSnap GUI is also optimized to be “touchable”.
We hope you’ll like what you see. Please feel free to send us your feedback.
Finally, it is online – the sneak preview explaining the idea behind SevenSnap. Perhaps you have already seen the sneak preview video and guide.
SevenSnap in a nutshell:
Every 60 minutes, we are offering you a product from the realms of consumer electronics, travel and leisure activities. To see the price of the product, which drops every second, you have to enter the Snap Room. Being in the Snap Room costs 1,– USD per minute.
If multiple people are in the Snap Room at the same time, the price of the product can drop by up to 100,– US Dollars per minute. The person first clicking on the “Order now” button gets the deal and the price drop is repeated from the top.
This system creates incredible saving opportunities and makes shopping a very exciting experience.
We hope you like our idea and look forward to receiving your feedback.
